Bourbon Barrel Smoked Asparagus!
I had about 1 1/2 pounds of asparagus (feeding a pretty big crowd) washed them directly in the gallon ziploc bag, drained the water, poured a little olive oil in the bag, coating the asparagus. Grind sea salt, pepper and garlic (all freshly ground) right into the bag. Make sure all the asparagus is coated. We made little aluminum foil ‘boats’ for the asparagus, put a little aluminum foil package of smoker chips (quickly soaked in water) with a few holes poked in so the smoke can come out on the grill next to the asparagus boats. Close the lid and let the smoke do magic. Cook time was about 10 minutes. I can’t even begin to tell you how good this was! Gotta try it!!

Spring has Sprung!!
And a picture of something growing in the one on the back deck. Not sure what is in here because the recent storms blew over my newly planted seeds but I’m sure I’ll be surprised later on. I’m kind of excited about it now!
Here are the first photos of our barrel head and stave side table too!
We’re getting ready for Derby too! What are your plans for the first Saturday in May?!
